Why it matters here

Nashville has learned what a phone outage costs

Two events in 2020 showed Middle Tennessee businesses how fragile a single phone line in a single building can be.

On March 3, 2020, a tornado cut across North Nashville, Germantown, East Nashville, and Donelson and on toward Mt. Juliet. Businesses that still answered calls on copper lines or an on-site phone system lost them along with their power.

On Christmas morning that year, the bombing on Second Avenue damaged an AT&T building downtown, and phone, internet, and some 911 service went down across a wide part of Middle Tennessee and beyond for days.

How a cloud system responds

Calls go where you are

  • If the office is dark, calls roll to staff cell phones running our app
  • A second office or an answering service can take overflow automatically
  • Voicemail lands in email, so nothing waits for the lights to come back
  • Optional backup internet keeps desk phones online through a line cut

Where Nashville works

Built for the way each part of town uses the phone

West End, Midtown, and the hospital corridors

Healthcare and Midtown

Nashville is a healthcare capital, home to some of the country's largest healthcare companies and many independent practices. Appointment lines, after-hours routing to the on-call provider, and recording for billing disputes.

Music Row, Berry Hill, The Gulch, and Germantown

Music Row and the creative trades

Studios, management firms, publishers, and agencies with small teams who are rarely at a desk. The mobile app keeps the business number on their own phones without giving out a personal cell.

MetroCenter, Antioch, Madison, and the I-24 and I-65 corridors

Contractors and the trades

Electricians, roofers, HVAC, and builders who take calls from job sites. Ring groups for the office, text messaging from the main number, and call forwarding for dispatchers on the road.

Features

What every Nashville system includes

  • Auto attendant

A recorded greeting with menu options, separate business-hours, after-hours, and holiday schedules.

  • Mobile and desktop apps

Your extension on an iPhone, Android phone, or computer, with the company number on outgoing calls.

  • Ring groups

Ring the whole office at once, or one person after another, before going to voicemail.

  • Voicemail to email

Every message arrives as an audio file in your inbox, so you can hear it from anywhere.

  • Call recording

Included in every bundle. Tennessee lets you record with one party's consent.

  • E911

Each phone is registered to a street address and suite, as federal rules require for business systems.

Switching

Moving your Nashville numbers

  1. Copy of your bill

  2. One signature

You sign a port request with the account name and service address exactly as your carrier has them.

  3. Set up ahead

Questions

Nashville business phone questions

Where is DirecTech's Nashville office?

Our Tennessee office is at 4909 Alabama Ave., Suite 1046, Nashville, TN 37209, in West Nashville off Charlotte Avenue and I-40. We install and support phone systems across Davidson County and the surrounding counties from there.

Can we keep our 615 or 629 number?

In nearly every case. Local 615 and 629 numbers, toll-free numbers, and fax lines can be ported from the phone and cable companies and most VoIP carriers. We confirm portability before you sign anything.

What does a cloud phone system cost in Nashville?

Our posted bundles are $202.45 a month plus tax for 5 users, $401.90 for 10, and $800.80 for 20, each with recording, E911, and 1,000 outbound minutes per user. Yealink desk phones and installation are a one-time $290 per user. Larger systems are quoted from your current bill.

Can we record calls in Tennessee?

Yes. Tennessee is a one-party consent state, so a business can record calls it takes part in. If you call customers in California or another all-party state, we still recommend a recording notice on your greeting.

What happens to our phones in a storm or a carrier outage?

Because the phone system lives in the cloud, calls can roll automatically to cell phones running our app or to another office when your building loses power or internet. We can also add a backup internet line so desk phones stay up.

Do you work with churches and ministries?

Yes. Churches are a large part of our Tennessee work. We set up office lines, staff extensions, and after-hours messages, and one Middle Tennessee church runs both its phones and its internet through us.

How long does the switch take?

The system can be built in a few days. Porting the numbers usually takes one to three weeks depending on the losing carrier, and your current phones keep working until the cutover.

Do you also do IT support in Nashville?

Yes. Managed IT, firewalls, Microsoft 365, and websites are all handled from the same Nashville office, so one team covers your phones and your network.
